ATO Records is pleased to announce the release of The Drive-By Truckers label debut, The Big To-Do. The album, which will be the band s tenth in their thirteen-year career, is scheduled to be released March 16, 2010. The Big To-Do features thirteen new tracks from the Drive-By Truckers and was produced by their long time producer, David Barbe (Sugar, Bettye LaVette). 'It s very much a rock album,' says Patterson Hood of the Trucker s upcoming release. 'Very melodic and more rocking than anything we ve done since disc 2 of Southern Rock Opera.'
Hood and Mike Cooley continue to be the chief songwriters of the group, continuing a musical partnership that has lasted over twentythree years. Bassist, Shonna Tucker, flexes her songwriting muscles once again by contributing two original songs to the album. Brad Morgan (drums), John Neff (guitar/pedal steel) and Jay Gonzalez (keyboards) round out the current Drive-By Truckers lineup.
The band recently backed legendary R&B musician, Booker T. Jones, on his critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated album, Potato Hole. The album is nominated for Best Pop Instrumental Album and Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

"Yesiree!" Deed I do like the way these rednecks rock!! This 'un might not be their finest hour, but I'll take it over most bands "Fifteen Minutes" and spot ya ten besides.
I like the way these boys milk them thar gui-tars one against the other two , and all 3 of 'em together. Tellin' a story or two along the way, the way folks do down south of the Mason-Dixon. Not that I'm an all-out fan of the stars'n'bars. It gets too hot'n'sticky for me. I don't like the humidity, and the bugs and mosquitoes have a taste for me. (Serves 'em right if they end up gettin' Hep-C.) But I do like that good 'ole rock'n'roll and every so often, every now & again, I get a hankerin' for something deep-fried from down home. A "little strange" as we used to say back in the daze of raging hormones and, considering the hard rock & Hip-Hop comin' up outta the streets nowadays, a bit of hard rockin' torch'n'twang hits the spot. These boys are hot! Drive-By Truckers are alright by me! Oh, "Yesiree!" Keep On Truckin'!!"

Big To-Do follows in the path of Lighter Than Creations Dark - which isn't good. No doubt that after nine albums it's hard to be fresh and creative, but . . . I LOVE the best of DBT, which I consider to be The Dirty South, Southern Rock Opera, Pizza Deliverence, and various cuts from most of the rest. But these last two attempts (along with Hood's solo albums) just don't make the grade. And, please, no more Shonna Tucker songs - they are the worst."

With 3 lead guitars and a perceptive writer's intellect, these Athens, Georgia, educated "good
ol' boys" deliver their 10th album. This is storytelling Americana rock of the highest order;
Genuine snippets of country life in small town U.S.A.--delivered with insight, passion and
pristine Southern rock guitar work. Reminiscent of Hold Steady, Springsteen, Lynyrd Skynyrd.
They sound way better than your Mama's shoes smell.

Very disappointed with this new release. It sounds generic and radio. I used to LOVE seeing these guys at the 40 watt back when. Now if I go to a show, its a big frat sing-along. This record reminds me of that."

The Drive-By Truckers new cd "The Big-To-Do" is just a long list of great albums from this smoking Southern rock outfit. Tracks like "Daddy Learned to Fly", "The Fourth Night Of My Drinking" a song that hits home sometimes when i think about my younger days. Patterson Hood also wrote "Drag The Lake Charlie","The Wig He Made Me Wear" this is top notch DBT, also the single from the album "This F---ing Job","After The Scene Dies","Santa Fe" and "The Flying Wallendas". Mike Cooley contributes "Birthday Boy" and the funky "Get Downtown" and ""Eyes Like Glue". Bassist Shonna Tucker adds two songs to the mix, which i think are her best songs yet, "(It's Gonna Be) I Told You So" this should get airplay so people could here another side of the TRUCKERS. Also she wrote "You Got Another". Overall this is in my top 5 of 2010 (so far). Other DBT releases that you should check-out: "Brighter Than Creations Dark", "The Dirty South" and "A BLessing And A Curse"."
